My mission is to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and the National Curriculum using Maria Montessori’s philosophy, methods and practice.
My aim is to provide the children within my care a warm, safe and welcoming environment where they will reach their full potential and flourish. Children will be guided through a Montessori scheme of work by an adult who is a fully trained teacher with a Montessori qualification. I endeavour to help children to succeed in their learning and developing and will cater for each unique child. I will guide them very carefully on their journey in becoming a well-rounded, well mannered, confident citizen.
My intent is to provide each and every child with the very best of care and education, giving them the best start in life. I will run Maria Montessori’s scheme of work alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.
I will deliver an enriched and inspiring indoor and outdoor curriculum, to help children reach the expected levels of development. They will take part in a vast variety of learning activities and life experiences which will build great relationships with both adults and children alike. These experiences will also encourage and engage the children in their learning where they will become curious, inquisitive and confident in all they do.
This will be implemented by being child centred and delivering a learning environment which is hands-on and promotes learning through play and nature. This will be done through listening to the children and observing them in order to learn both their individual needs and also their interests.
The number of children will never exceed the adult to child ratios laid out in the EYFS framework, which will help me to have a good knowledge and understanding of individual children. This knowledge will be used to inform planning and will also allow me to assess where the children are at in terms of their learning and development. Planning and assessment will also allow me to provide the children with child centred opportunities for learning personal, social and emotional skills, for communication skills and to develop physically.
Based on the child’s Characteristics of Effective Learning, the activities provided to the children will build on free play, communicating effectively with adults and their peers, talking about and sharing their ideas, all whilst following their own individual interests.
The impact of my child centred, hands-on curriculum will be that they become confident, unique, competent, compassionate, loving and caring human beings, who know right from wrong and know the benefits in self-care and self-love.
